At Fáilte Ireland, our values form the core of all that we do. Passion
We have pride in our country and will always represent Ireland in a passionate way. As advocates for tourism in Ireland, we strive to go above and beyond expectation, purely because we believe in what we do. We have a strong customer service orientation, both internally and externally, and put the visitor first. We’re always looking to thrive and improve by continually developing the visitor experience, industry, community and environment.
Imagination
We constantly reimagine a better future. At Fáilte Ireland, we dream big – we’re actively looking for better things to do, and better ways to do them. The key to this is imagination. In our work, we dare to challenge the status quo and reimagine what’s possible by trying new things, keeping an open mind and taking educated risks. We also inspire others to reimagine their potential contribution.
Action
We don’t just have big ideas – we make them happen. We set high standards and are consistently changing and evolving in order to meet our goals and surpass them. As an organisation, we continually strive to improve our performance, but we also work hard to encourage those around us to do the same. We empower and support others to make things happen, and constantly evaluate and apply what we have learned.
Collaboration
Collaboration is key to our success. Teamwork is a crucial part of what we do, and the way in which we work together, welcome diverse input and communicate is fundamental. When working on a task, we utilise the most effective skills of others, ensuring we are always bringing the best expertise to the table. We also consider the impact of our decisions on others, and respect other people’s needs and priorities. Within our work, we establish clear roles and responsibilities, while taking personal ownership and accountability.
Integrity
Whatever we do, we act with integrity. We are honest, transparent and have high standards of governance – we do the right thing in the right way and encourage others to do the same. As the National Tourism Development Authority, we allocate our resources effectively and efficiently in order to optimise value for taxpayers’ money. That also means considering the environmental and societal impact of our decisions and actions. When others are not doing the right thing, we speak up, and when we make mistakes, we own up to them.
Expertise
We never stop developing and sharing our expertise. We are informed and understand the wider context in order to better share our knowledge, but we also analyse information in order to understand the implications and value of our actions. While we seek to be experts in our roles, we also recognise the importance of gaining broader knowledge and new skills. Humility is a useful quality – when we acknowledge that we don’t know everything, we know to ask questions and rely on the expertise of others. Feedback is crucial, and we both welcome it and take action from it.
Care
Ultimately, we care about people. From our colleagues and stakeholders to society and the environment, we act responsibly and with compassion. Within Fáilte Ireland, we recognise the value that each person contributes and provide a supportive environment that recognises (and celebrates) the value of diversity and inclusion.
